This car, which would wear an Infiniti badge in the States, would be Nissan's answer to the Porsche Cayenne (which is Porsche's best-selling model), the BMW X5 and X6. Another rumor hinted at a four-door GT-R-powered sedan badged as an Infiniti that would go head to head against the BMW M5 and Porsche Panamera. As far as we know, both of those projects have been shelved in favor of the GT-R hybrid.


The Essence showcar's hybrid system consisted of the G37's 3.7-liter V6, whose output was raised to 440 horsepower with the help of twin turbochargers. This was combined with a 160-hp electric motor, bringing the grand total to 600 hp. For the GT-R, Nissan would go with the 3.8-liter twin turbocharged V6 (VR38DETT) with the same electric motor used for the Essence. The target output would also be 600 hp (440 hp from the gasoline engine and 160 from the electric motor). That means the hybrid GT-R would boast more than 100 hp more than the current GT-R, while fuel economy would improve to roughly 25-30 mpg. And because it's a GT-R, we're also told that all-wheel drive will still be part of the package.


It's no secret that Nissan targeted the performance of the Porsche 911 Turbo when it developed the GT-R. A quick look at the car's specifications will reveal just how similar the cars are, from their twin-turbocharged six-cylinder engines' output, all-wheel-drive layout and of course, lap times around the Nürburgring. GT-R Chief Vehicle Engineer and Chief Product Specialist Kazutoshi Mizuno even went as far as saying he intends the "GT-R to maintain a life cycle of six to seven years as it evolves gradually during those years, similar to how Porsche cars evolve."


With all that power comes great fiscal responsibility, so what would a GT-R hybrid cost? IL guesses $100,000 could be the price of entry, though Nissan could be looking for a little more coin than that. VW has shown a prototype of a city midget car

On a motor show in Los Angeles concern Volkswagen has presented a new prototype of city midget car Up! Lite, equipped hybrid a diesel engine-electric a power-plant. This car considerably differs from previous conceptual Up!, which VW shows on each large motor show, since Geneva of 2008.

New Up! Lite is much larger than predecessors with the same name — the length makes 3,84 metres against 3,14 metres at the previous models.

The novelty is equipped by system "Stop/Start" thanks to what the average expense of fuel does not exceed 2,44 litres on 100 km of a way, and emissions СО2 make only 65 g/km. Thus, Up! Lite it is dynamical enough: with 0 to 100 km/h the car is dispersed for 12,5 sec, and the maximum speed reaches 160 km/h.

About batch production prospects it is concrete this model while it is informed nothing. It is quite probable, that Up! Lite is only one of members of new family of the city midget cars Volkswagen united under general brand Up! Besides a hybrid, in this series electromobiles with traditional power-plants, and the first serial VW Up will enter also! It is expected by 2011.

Citroen has shown the first hybrid concept car

On Tuesday on the Frankfurt motor show company Citroen has officially presented the conceptual car Revolte which appearance is created on motives of legendary model 2CV, received a nickname "the disgusting duckling".

The car is equipped by the hybrid power-plant allowing the car to move as exclusively on electrodraught, and with use only an internal combustion engine. The concept car roof is covered by photogalvanic cells which support work of onboard electronics Revolte and do not allow to be discharged to batteries. At present detailed characteristics of a power-plant, including a stock of a course and time demanded on additional charge accumulators, are not informed.

On the overall dimensions the novelty is close to model C2 — the dimensional length Revolte makes 3,68 metres, width — 1,73 metres, and height — 1,35 metres. Thus in company Citroen have specified, that the concept car is not harbinger C2 of new generation or revived 2CV as for the similar car in mark scale in general there are no places and the batch production at present is impossible.

I will notice also, that in Frankfurt Citroen has presented model С3 of new generation and hatchback DS3 which after an exit on the market will make a competition to cars MINI and Alfa Romeo Mi.To.

Company BMW has presented the most economic model

Company BMW has extended the official information on the new version of a sedan 3-Series which representatives of a German motor-car manufacturer name the most economic and harmless BMW 3-Series for all history of model.

The average expense of fuel at the car which has received the name 320d Efficient Dynamics, makes 4,1 litres on 100 km of a way, and level of emissions CO2 is equal 109/km. About it is spoken in press release BMW.

To achieve such indicators in BMW modernised an engine design a little, have reduced a road gleam, have completed the car with special 16-inch wheel disks and tyre covers Michelin. Besides it, package Efficient Dynamics includes system of an automatic stop and motor start, system of regeneration of energy at braking, and also the indicator on panels of the devices, the optimal moment prompting to the driver from the point of view of profitability for transfer switching.

The novelty is equipped by the two-litre diesel engine power of 163HP (360Nm) and a six-step mechanical transmission. According to the manufacturer, with 0 to 100 km/h the most economic sedan 3-Series can be dispersed for 8,2 seconds. The maximum speed — 225 km/h.

The world premiere of such car will take place in September on autoshow in Frankfurt. In sale to the European dealers the novelty will arrive in January, 2010.

BMW Vision EfficientDynamics

Company BMW has published the first video-teazer devoted to the new conceptual car which in the middle of September will be presented on the international automobile show in Frankfurt.

The prototype has received name Vision EfficientDynamics and, predictably, begins to be equipped with the systems, allowing to lower emissions of carbonic gas and to improve fuel profitability.

As it was informed earlier, the new concept car will represent double sportcar with a carbon body and the aluminium chassis. It is expected, that the car will receive the powerful petrol engine with direct injection of fuel, system of an automatic stop and motor start, and also system of regeneration of energy at braking.

Earlier in some western mass-media there were espionage photos of a certain car which presumably and was new concept car BMW. However a little bit later representatives of the German company have declared, that the car is only the breadboard model of five years' prescription intended for testing of new aerodynamic elements.

Under the preliminary information, the serial version of prototype Vision EfficientDynamics will appear in the end of 2012 and the car circulation will be limited.
